Long week

The week caught up to them, but I'm sure they'll be ready to go tomorrow. Spring break can't come fast enough.

Macaroni sock

Aden and I are at the district pine wood derby for boy scouts. His car is in the design contest, and there are other cars still competing in the heat races. But the most excited Aden has been is when he just realized there was something squishy in his sock - a piece of macaroni from lunch. Not sure how that got there...

Almost Home

The flight went well and so has the drive from Chicago. We stopped for lunch at Portillo's in Skokie and just got gas near Milwaukee.

Return Flight

We're about to take off. Flight is direct from Orlando to Chicago.

Pirate Kite

Tracy, the kids, and her parents came over to the windsurfing race site today. They spent most of their time by the Cocoa Beach pier. When they came back to the race site they got out a kite and Aden and Addie took turns flying it.

But, shortly after taking this picture, Aden dropped the handle of the kite and the kite elevated quickly and blew away. A long ways away. We saw it continue flying as it left the park area, go over the causeway, over the highway, then out of sight.

Vacation Update

Florida 2012

We are pleased to report we have been bleased with beautiful weather here. It is 84 and sunny again.

Thought we would send out a vacation update. Going backwards.... Today, we have been in the pool all day so far, the kids are loving it! My parents went to have lunch and visit with the Ward's for the afternoon. Tonight they are planning to take the kids somewhere and Arden and I are going on a Dinner date. It will be nice to go out alone since he will be in Cocoa Beach windsurfing the rest of the vacation.

Yesterday, we spent the day at Magic Kingdom. It was a historic day there - it was the first time they were open 24 hours straight. We only lasted until about 11pm but we had over 13 hours in by that time. Adalin saw every princess and Aden spent a lot of time on the racecars. And of course, we all did the rides. Unfortunately, Mickey's Toontown wasn't open since they are changing it into Fantasyland, but the plans for Fantasyland look really neat. Also, the electric parade was awesome! We saw 4 different neat parades yesterday.

Tuesday, we spent the day at Animal Kingdom. We went on a very neat and realistic Safari, got wet on the rides, and checked out some cool animals.

Monday, we explored the Orlando Science Center and went food/supply shopping. The OSC was a fun place, it had a lot of things for kids and adults to do. Aden's favorite was the 3 flight simulators(he was a good pilot - he could take off and land better than the adults). Adalin's favorite thing was the Bob the Builder area, it was a huge area with tons of building activities and characters to climb on. We also saw a video on Animals in the Cinemadome.

Sunday, we flew into Florida. The flights were on time but our second flight was a little turbulent. Unfortunately, Aden got sick, at least it was on our descent into Florida. After about an hour on the ground he was good to go so we unpacked at the house and headed to Downtown Disney for supper. We ate at the House of Blues then watched the street performers. The kids also each picked out something special, Aden chose a lego boat and Adalin a Belle princess dress.

Tomorrowland Speedway

We're at the Magic Kingdom today. For Leap Day the park is open until 6 am. Oh boy...

We did a Buzz Lightyear ride, a parade, a Monsters Inc Laugh-In show, and some other Tomorrowland stuff. Addie is with Mom looking for Princesses while Aden and I race some cars. Aden earned his license driving with me the first time and can now drive on the second time around. We're in line now...
